EL PASO GHOST TOURS | AFTER DARK COLLECTION 2026–2027

A century of darkness. A little girl named Sara. And something sinister lurking beneath the hotel.

Step into the shadows of downtown El Paso with the De Soto Hotel edition of our After Dark collection.

Located at 309 East Mills Avenue, the historic De Soto Hotel originally opened in November 1905 as the Great Northern Hotel. Over the decades, it became one of El Paso's most notorious landmarks, with a troubled history of tragedy, violence, mysterious encounters, and paranormal legends.

But for El Paso Ghost Tours, the De Soto was much more than another haunted building. It was our original home, beginning in 2008.

For years, our investigations brought guests face-to-face with the unsettling atmosphere, dark corridors, and basement mysteries that made this location unforgettable.

Sara, the Little Girl: One of the hotel's best-known legends concerns a playful young spirit named Sara. Visitors and investigators have reported unexplained laughter, footsteps, and voices attributed to her presence.

The Thing in the Basement: Perhaps the hotel's most disturbing legend involves an aggressive presence said to inhabit the lower levels. Stories surrounding a former resident known as "Devil Dave," alleged occult practices, and frightening encounters helped establish the basement's sinister reputation.

The Night Stalker Connection: El Paso-born serial killer Richard Ramirez has been linked through historical accounts to a brief stay at the hotel, adding another unsettling chapter to its history.

Paranormal Television: The De Soto attracted national attention through investigations and paranormal programming, including an appearance on Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures in 2017.

The Devastating Fire: On February 4, 2022, a massive fire gutted the vacant, 116-year-old building. The cause was officially undetermined. Photographs of the blaze sparked eerie speculation about faces and figures appearing in the smoke.

The fire destroyed much of the historic structure, but it could not erase the stories, experiences, and memories associated with the De Soto.

This exclusive After Dark design celebrates the actual De Soto Hotel with atmospheric historical imagery, haunting architectural details, and the legends that made it one of West Texas's most talked-about paranormal locations.

Design features:

  • El Paso Ghost Tours emblem on the front left chest.

  • Haunted De Soto Hotel artwork on the back.

  • Historical references to Sara, the basement legends, and the hotel's troubled past.

  • Dark, distressed vintage styling inspired by the hotel's haunting reputation.

  • Part of the 2026–2027 After Dark collection.

Some buildings are haunted by their history. The De Soto may have been haunted by something far darker.
